How to ease toothache
63How to make the pain better
Toothache is horrible, it’s a constant pain that painkillers don’t seem to touch. You will probably need to go to the dentist, but until you can get there, here are some remedies that can help reduce the pain.
Clove oil.
Clove oil has been used for centuries in the treatment of toothache, it has numbing properties as well as anti bacterial ones. Dab some directly onto the sore tooth or gum.
Cayenne pepper.
Use powdered cayenne pepper, powdered ginger and a small amount of water to form a paste, saturate a cotton ball with it and place it on the tooth.
Salt.
Gargle with a strong salt-water solution, this will temporarily ease the pain.
Ginger: This little miracle root is said to have anti inflammatory properties as powerful as ibuprofen. Chew a small amount (about an inch thick and wide) whenever you fell the pain coming.
Bicarbonate of soda: Put a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda into a half a glass of warm water and gargle with it. This also helps to prevent or control infection.
Painkillers.
Use an anti-inflammatory; try to find one with codeine in it. These have been proven to give the best relief from dental pain.
Mouthwash.
I hate to say it, but in my experience, the more expensive mouthwashes have worked best. Look for one that has anti bacterial properties. Also, try to use ones that contain alcohol, these have a temporary numbing effect on the mouth.
