How to make your hairdye last longer

By

There really is nothing like the look and feel of freshly coloured hair. It looks shiny, healthy and full of life.but without the proper maintenance your hair colour can fade incredibly quickly. And when hair colour does fade it begins to look dull, dry and lifeless.

Millions of women all over the world colour their hair. but so many of them do not know how to take proper care of their coloured hair. In fact, many people do not even realise that coloured hair requires a different approach to hair care at all.

The first thing that you will need to change about your hair care routine will be your shampoo and conditioner. The lathering action of shampoo is what cleanses the hair. But it i also what strips the hair of its dye. Choose a shampoo specifically designed for coloured hair. These shampoos do not lather as much and so they are much kinder to the hair. They are also full of ingredients that will protect your colour for as long as possible.

You can either use a shampoo that is designed for coloured hair in general. Or you can use one that is specifically designed for the colour of your hair. These will offer you a much better result. They will enhance the colour of your hair and add a great shine. Steer clear of colour depositing formulas. These will add weight and colour to your hair but they will make it look heavy and dull.

Apply a small amount of shampoo onto wet hair and gently work it through. Do not try to lather the shampoo too much and do not scrub at your hair because you will damage it if you do.

The next thing you will need to do is choose a new conditioner. Choose one that is designed for coloured hair. This will really enhance the colour and shine of your hair.

Try not to wash your hair everyday. Quite simply the more you wash it the more your colour will fade. Try to limit washes to every other day or every third day if possible. To freshen up roots between washes try a dry shampoo or a mousse shampoo.

After you have washed it your hair needs to be protected from your heated appliances. Apply a heat protection spray to towel dried hair (it should be about 70% dry) comb through with a wide tooth comb. Blow dry on the lowest setting and keep the hairdryer moving down the hair. This will help the cuticle lie flat, making your hair look shinier.
